"Should we do something? About it. It feels weird just standing here and watching it.", said Margot after a while. "I have a boat." Josh turned to look at her. "It's not great. But maybe we could try to go out there." "And then what?" "I don't know. See it closer. Got a better idea?" Margot shook her head. "Where is it? How long will it take to get out here?" "Over there." He pointed at a little dock near them. "There's not much to do, so it'll be quick." Josh went to the dock and started handling the ropes. Margot followed him with a doubtful look on her face. After a few minutes, which Margot spent nervously keeping a close watch on the light, they left the dock and Josh started rowing his little boat towards the light. The light wasn't far, it only took a three minutes to get there. Contrary to Margots fear, the light was still there. They looked down on it. "It's a machine.", Margot said. "Yeah. A submarine, probably. What'd you figure they're doing here?" "No idea." "We should've taken a camera or something like that.", Josh said and leaned back. "Yeah. You got one?" Josh shook his head. "What about you?" Margot shook her head too. "What now?", Josh asked Margot. She looked at him and stopped to think for a second. Then she jumped into the water. Josh almost fell out, trying to look for Margot in the water. She came back up above the water a few seconds later, gasping for air. "Are you crazy?", Josh shouted at her. She shrugged and went back in. What she saw was the most beautiful ship she could have imagined. It was copper coloured and partially covered by seashells. The green light came from a lamp on one end of the submarine. When Margot looked at it, she couldn't was blinded for a few seconds. As soon as she regained her eyesight, she saw a huge, round window belog the light. It was a glassy hemisphere, giving Margot insight of the submarine. She couldn't make anything living out, but she saw a steering wheel and a lot of control appliances. Margot was so captivated by the ship, that she forgot to pay attention to her breathing. She rushed to the water surface. Instead of breaking through it, she hit something hard. She felt the water enter her lungs, pulling her down and almost suffocating her. Before she lost conscience fully, she saw, beneath her, a figure behind the submarines window. Margot was woken by the tapping of Joshs shoes on the floor. He looked down on her, his hands crossed behind his back and with his eyebrows drawn closely together. His hair was wet and Margot thought that he was wearing something else than he had before, but she wasn't sure. After realizing she'd woken up, Josh took a step back. Where his head had been, there was now a bright cold white lamp shining into Margots face. "Where are we?", Margot asked while trying to get up but quickly realized she wasn't capable of so. A woman approached. She was tall and wore a white coat, her braided hair was put into a low bun. "You're currently occupying the ER of our ship.", the woman said. Margot lifted her head slightly to look around. She was lying on a bed, much like one you'd see in a hospital. Around her were all kinds of medical devices, it seemed like a whole hospital was comprimised into one room. Everything was white, the cold light put the room made it seem almost blue. Whatever space on the wall wasn't covered by shelves, was taken up by blinking lights, pipes or displays. Margot repeated the womans words in her head. "Of your *ship*? Who are you?" "I'm Doctor tbu. You're on board of the Nautilus, the submarine that you tried to drown yourself in front of.", she replied. Margot could see some statistics on a screen besides her. The Doctor looked at them and wrote something down. "What are you doing?", Margot asked; she wanted to get up, but she still remembered the dizzy feeling from before. She answered "Just taking notes. You'll need a bit more rest before you're fully in shape again. But you'll be fine.", then she pressed a button besides the bed, which lifted the pillow, as well as Margots upper body, up. She pointed towards a tbu on the wall. "In case you need anything." Doctor tbu took some files and left the room. She locked the door behind her. Margot looked at Josh, who was now sitting in a chair next to her bed. He was looking down on his shoes, which were still tapping on the floor. "So what happened?", Margot asked after a brief moment of silence. Josh turned his head to her, finally holding his legs still. "You were unconscious when you surfaced next to the boat.", he started to explain. "I thought you were dead. I failed to get you back on the boat, but that's when the submarine turned up. I guess it was risky to trust them but you probably would've died otherwise." "What happened then?", Margot interrogated further. "A tbu opened, some people stepped onto the platform and said they saw you. They took you in instantly, me too, it all happened very fast. You were put in the ER, I was told to wait in another room. After about an hour, Doctor tbu came to see me and tell me that I could wait with you now. So I did. I don't know what happened between that and when they took you here." Josh looked around the room. "The rest of the ship looks very different from this. I guess you'll see. If they don't take us as prisoners." He tbud. "Sorry for all of that. And thanks for trying to save my life." Margot focused her sight on her hands in her lap. "Do you think they're good people?" Josh shrugged. "They didn't say much. I didn't see anything that indicates some kind of political alliance either or why they're here. I tried to ask the Doctor, but she wouldn't tell me anything. Only the ships name. Nautilus." They both kept quiet for a few moments, taking in the information and thinking about what to do. Josh stood up and went to see the board that the doctor had told them about. It was a display, showing a submarine divided into sectors. Each sector had a symbol and a name. There was "Kitchen", with the icon of a pot, "Library" with a book, and so on. "What does it say?", Margot asked him. Josh tbued the thing, trying to figure out it's use. He clicked on one of the rooms in the submarine. It took him to a new screen, giving him several options. "Make voice call", "Make video call" and "Request delivery" were some of them. "I think we can contact the crew through it.", he finally responded.
